COVID-19 and the Global Food Supply

The global food supply is under intense pressure from COVID-19, which is affecting nearly every aspect of human life. In this episode of “IWF Game Changers,” we hear from two members on the front lines of global food production and distribution about how this crisis is impacting availability around the world. Mina Teicher

To help celebrate the first International Day of Mathematics, we’re highlighting a leader in mathematics and advocate for girls’ education. IWF Israel member, mathematician, neuroscientist and professor Mina Teicher is the former Chief Scientist for the Israeli government and former Vice President for R&D at Bar Ilan University, among other leading positions. She tells us about being fascinated by numbers at an early age and encouraging women and girls to enter mathematics.

Samar Nassar & Brianna Salvatore Dueck

To celebrate Mentoring Month in January, we wanted to highlight a relationship that bridges both cultural and geographical barriers. Samar Nassar is a member of IWF Jordan, an Olympic athlete and changemaker for women athletes. She mentors American basketball player Brianna Salvatore Dueck as part of IWF’s elite athlete mentoring program. In this episode, both women discuss sports diplomacy, leadership and growth through their friendship.

As President of IWF Bahamas, Sonia Brown helped lead an IWF Intensive program that provided a leadership development experience for members and professional women. For this episode of “IWF Game Changers,” Sonia describes her many other impressive endeavors, including founding her own engineering firm and fighting for climate justice.

This episode of “IWF Game Changers” features an enriching conversation with IWF Oklahoma member Jill Castilla, the President and CEO of Citizens Bank of Edmond and an “Innovative CEO of the Year” according to American Banker magazine. Throughout her career, she has brought small business banking into the 21^st century, using social media to increase accessibility and meeting customers where they are.

Ersilia Vaudo Scarpetta

The IWF game-changer featured this month has worked in science and space for nearly 30 years. Ersilia Vaudo Scarpetta is a member of IWF France and the Chief Diversity Officer for the European Space Agency. She proposes initiatives that enhance ESA’s diversity, striving to ensure that inclusiveness is part of the its practices. Here, she talks about learning chemical compounds as a child and why she believes studying science gives you super powers.

Major General Linda Singh

The latest episode of “IWF Game Changers” features a compelling discussion about service, sacrifice and leadership. Fellows alumnae and IWF D.C. member Major General Linda Singh made news earlier this year when her leadership team became the nation’s first all-female National Guard command staff. Linda’s journey, her experience and the advice she has for younger leaders are sure to inspire.

Olympic Gold Medalist Donna de Varona

In the inaugural episode of IWF Game Changers, IWF Michigan President and host Anne Doyle sits down with Donna de Varona, named by Sports Illustrated as one of the greatest female athletes of the 20th century. Outside of her storied swimming and sports broadcasting career, Donna has been a fierce supporter of women in sports, becoming the co-founder and first president of the Women’s Sports Foundation.
